23/01/2017 (Agence Europe) – At the Agriculture Council in Brussels on Monday 23 January, the Slovenian delegation called for legal clarification from the European Commission on a draft delegated act which would grant Croatian wine producers a derogation allowing them to label their wine with the name of a protected designation of origin (PDO), The Teran PDO has already been granted to Slovenia. Croatia did not speak at the meeting but Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Bulgaria also called for clarification. The Commission believes that it has not exceeded its powers. A European source suggests that this case could end up before the Court of Justice of the EU. (LC)
