20/01/2017 (Agence Europe) – One of our articles in our 11707 bulletin published on Thursday 19 January created a certain amount of confusion. On that day during a plenary session, the European Parliament did not reject the list presented last July by third countries containing mechanisms for tackling money laundering and the financing of terrorism and highlighting the shortcomings threatening the European financial system but rather, an amendment to the list presented later and upon which the Commission has not yet responded. In this amendment, the European Commission did propose withdrawing Guyana from the list in question. The list presented in July 2016 has been in force since last September and therefore remains unchanged, given that the European Parliament rejected the amendment proposed by the European Commission.
