20/01/2017 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Friday 20 January that it had approved the request for the inclusion of “Miel Villuercas-Ibores” in the Community register of protected designations of origin (PDO). It may be single-flower retama honey, single-flower chestnut honey, honeydew honey or multifloral honey, marketed in liquid or solid form. This honey is extracted in the traditional way from hives located in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura (Spain), in the south-east of the province of Cáceres. Miel Villuercas-Ibores will now join over 1,380 other products which are already protected. (LC)
