Brussels, 07/11/2016 (Agence Europe) – According to European Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager, the European Commission approved the French plan for broadband, on Monday 7 November, through which "all French households and businesses will have access to high speed broadband by 2022". This plan will also expand the choice of providers. The plan effectively relaunches a previous plan authorised by the Commission in October 2011 but which expired in December last year. It involves building new generation access (NGA) networks for connecting households and businesses, setting up the NGA transmission networks, using traditional high speed networks in remote regions with low density populations and modernising the copper cabling network in an effort to increase the available speeds.
