04/11/2016 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 3 November, the US online giant Google responded to complaints made by the European Commission on in its price comparison aggregator, Google Shopping. The same day, Kent Walker, Google Vice President, defended Google in a blog post in which he said "we disagree with the European Commission’s argument that our improved Google Shopping results are harming competition. As we said last year in our response to the Commission’s original Statement of Objections, we believe these claims are wrong as a matter of fact, law, and economics”. The statement of objections was sent in April 2015 (see EUROPE 11295). In it, the Commission claimed that Google had systematically showed preference to its own price comparison aggregator in its general research results pages. (EL)
