04/11/2016 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Friday 4 November that it had approved the requests for a French and a Swedish product to be included in the register of protected geographical indications (PGI) and protected designations of origin (PDO). The French product is the “Poularde du Périgord” (PGI). From Sweden comes the PDO “Hånnlamb”, designating lambs and sheep of the “gutefår” breed that are born, reared and slaughtered within the defined geographical area of Gotland, the largest island in the Baltic Sea. These two designations will join over 1,370 products already protected at Community level. (LC)
