Informal meeting of the defence ministers (and 27/09). – Implementation of the defence aspects of the EU’s global foreign policy and security strategy; - discussions on EU-NATO cooperation, to be attended by the Secretary General of the organisation, Jens Stoltenberg; - CSDP missions and operations concerning Libya and the Sahel region.
Brussels. European Parliament. Activities of the committees (to 29/09). – ECON: debate with the President of the ECB, Mario Draghi, who will report back on the economic and monetary developments under consideration by the Bank following the results of the British referendum on Brexit. – LIBE: discussions with the anti-terrorism coordinator, Gilles De Kerchove, on the actions undertaken to fight terrorism. Vote on the legislative report on the visa exemption for Ukrainians visiting the EU and on the report on strategic cooperation between China and Europol. – EMIS: hearing of the representative of the American Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on the Volkswagen affair. – JURI: votes on the reports on the accession of Peru, Kazakhstan and South Korea to the Convention on the civil aspects of international child abduction and the liability, indemnification and financial security of offshore oil and gas operations; - adoption of its opinions on the EU action plan to fight the trafficking in wild species of flora and fauna and visa requirements for third-country nationals entering the EU. – ITRE: debates on the Commission’s draft decision on roaming. – CONT: vote on the draft reports on the implementation of the 2014 budget by the Council, the European Council and the joint enterprises Artemis, ENIAC and ITER; vote on the opinions on the EU budget for 2017 and orientations concerning the statements of interests of the European Commissioners; - CULT: public hearing on the revision of the directive on audiovisual media services.

Weekly meeting of the College of Commissioners. – Proposed inter-institutional agreement on the transparency register; - recommendation on transfers of migrants in Greece; - sixth report of the Commission on the relocation and resettlement of migrants; - Europass (New Skills Agenda for Europe – Joint framework for the provision of better services to skills and qualifications).

Thursday 29 September

Competitiveness Council (and 30/09). – Debate on the collaborative economy on the basis of the recent Commission communication; - discussion on industrial policy coordination and how to address the situation in the steel industry; - competitiveness "check-up" in Europe and improving companies’ access to financing.
