23/09/2016 (Agence Europe) – Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc is visiting Japan to attend the G7 transport ministers’ conference in Karuizawa from 23 to 25 September. On Saturday 24 September, she will set out the EU’s transport infrastructure policy, addressing, in particular, the deployment of cooperative intelligent transport systems, which are due to come on stream in 2019 (see EUROPE 11474 and 11532), the trans-European transport le network (TEN-T) and the Juncker plan. On the latter two issues, she will stress the need to involve public and private investors in order to achieve the targets for 2030. The G7 conference will be examining two main issues: developing and rolling out cutting-edge policies for vehicles and road networks and drawing up a strategy for developing transport infrastructure and dealing with ageing infrastructure.
