Brussels, 08/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - The European employers and accounting experts on Thursday 7 April welcomed the publication of the Commissions's action plan on VAT. The director general of Business Europe, Markus J. Beyrer, said that he particularly supports the efforts to remove obstacles to electronic trade related to VAT and to reinforce the single market in this area. On behalf of the ACCA, which represents accountancy experts at global level, however, Chas Roy-Chowdhury argued that a definitive regime based on the principle of destination could create more complexity for small businesses, as they will have to work with different rates of VAT when they operate across borders. “We therefore hope that the planned simplification package for SMEs - and especially the revision of the SMEs' special regime that the Commission announced for 2017 - will address this issue”, said Roy-Chowdhury.
