08/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - First successful truck platooning. The first European truck platooning was successfully achieved on Wednesday 6 April without any glitches or technical problems. Lorries from a number of constructors (DAF, Daimler, Iveco, MAN, Scania and Volvo) set off for Rotterdam from various locations and dates (from Stockholm, Göterborg, Stuttgart, Munich and Brussels (see EUROPE 11516). This was a major event launched by the Dutch Presidency of the Council of the EU. The next Transport Council in Amsterdam on 14 April will be wholly devoted to autonomous vehicles (see EUROPE 11522).
