12/05/2015 (Agence Europe) - Charlemagne prize - Luxembourg project takes first prize. The project @RealTime WW1 (Luxembourg) has been awarded first prize at the 2015 European Charlemagne Youth Prize ceremony in Aachen, Germany, on Tuesday 12 May. Since the start of 2014, the students carrying out the project have been recounting life during the First World War in just a few lines on Twitter as seen through the eyes of the soldiers, nurses and pupils living through the events at the time, shedding a fresh, more personal light. Second prize went to the Fronterras-European (border) line project (France). The 28 young European citizens who produced the project created a website bringing together tales of life on Europe's borders and the journeys across them. The third prize was awarded jointly to three projects: Social Soccer Cup (Austria), Entrepreneurship, the Solution to Unemployment (Cyprus) and Infoactualidad (Spain). The winning projects receive €5,000, €3,000 and €2,000 respectively. The European Charlemagne Youth Prize is awarded annually to projects which help build feelings of common identity and promote European integration among young people. (IL)
