Brussels, 08/01/2015 (Agence Europe) - Following the attack in Paris on French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo on 7 January, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini has decided to add the fight against terrorism to the agenda for the next Foreign Affairs Council on 19 January.
“The fight against terrorism, in all its forms, is regularly at the heart of the work of the meetings of foreign ministers. These tragic events strengthen my determination in this direction”, she stated in a press release published during the evening of Wednesday 7 January.
Mogherini also condemned the attack on Charlie Hebdo, describing “the terrorist acts” as “deeply shocking”. She reiterated that freedom of the press is a fundamental right and that the EU would not let these attacks undermine its values. “The EU remains united in the fight against all extremism”, she concluded.
