Brussels, 08/01/2015 (Agence Europe) - The Latvian presidency intends to keep an eye on the ongoing revision of the Small Business Act. At the beginning of March, during the Competitiveness Council, it said that it intended to request information from the European Commission on the subject of the future European policy for SMEs. No timetable has as yet been set out for the presentation of this revision, which is indeed included in the European Commission 2015 work programme. It is therefore more likely to be the European ministers who will be discussing what orientations should be planned.
The Latvian presidency will not be ignoring the expectations of SMEs, particularly with regard to the subject of the difficulties encountered in obtaining finance as a major problem facing these companies. This aspect will largely be discussed during an “Innovative Enterprise Week”, which the presidency intends to organise during its mandate. This will involve drawing attention to the financial instruments available and backup measures. (MD)
