IRIS report on advertising in digital age

Brussels, 09/12/2014 (Agence Europe) - The European Audiovisual Observatory has just published a new IRIS special report, New forms of audiovisual commercial communications in a converged audiovisual sector.

The face of advertising has changed, with “commercial communications” now existing in an increasingly converged media universe. As a result, the lines between real content and advertising are increasingly unclear. The personal data stored and held in cyberspace, give precise details about our needs and behaviour as consumers, allowing advertisers to target us ever more precisely with their message.

The European Audiovisual Observatory report looks at this situation from a regulatory perspective, analysing the various European directives which lay down the rules for commercial content and its delivery via the myriad of new channels available in our hyper-connected environment. (IL)
