CoR sets out wishlist for Timmermans

Brussels, 09/12/2014 (Agence Europe) - The Committee of the Regions (CoR) wants to have its say in the European Commission work programme. CoR President Michel Lebrun held a meeting with Commission Vice-President with responsibility for Inter-institutional Relations and Jean-Claude Juncker's right-hand man Frans Timmermans to discuss this very subject on Monday 8 December.

In the 2015 programme, the CoR would particularly like to see the introduction of a territorial dimension in the mid-term review of the EUROPE 2020 strategy, clarification of the synergies between the structural funds and the Commission's new investment plan and the new legislative package on worker mobility in Europe. In general, Lebrun also highlighted for Timmermans the usefulness of more systematic discussion and debate between the European institutions and the representatives of local and regional authorities, since these latter are responsible for the way in which 75% of European legislation is applied.
