05/12/2014 (Agence Europe) - Stop TTIP petition obtains over one million signatures. The Stop TTIP group, which brings together over 300 civil society organisations in 24 EU member states against the negotiations for a transatlantic trade and investment partnership agreement (TTIP), against the comprehensive economic and trade agreement (CETA) in Canada, and against the Trade in Services Agreement (TiSA), plans to step up its protest movement in the months to come - including a demonstration in front of the European Commission building on Tuesday 9 December. Stop TTIP, which challenged before the European Court of Justice the Commission's rejection of its request for the status of a European Citizen's Initiative, announced on Thursday 4 December that it had gathered over a million signatures across Europe over the last two months.
