Brussels, 05/12/2014 (Agence Europe) - European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica will make his first official visit to Guinea on 5-7 December - one of the three countries in West Africa affected by the Ebola epidemic.
Mimica will reaffirm the EU's solidarity and support for the country's mid- to long-term development through €244 million in aid until 2020 under the 11th European Development Fund (EDF). The aid will cover health, urban sanitation and the rule of law. Mimica will meet Guinea's President Alpha Condé and several ministers. He will also visit cooperation projects in the areas of health and hygiene. EU Coordinator for the fight against Ebola, Christos Stylianides, and European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Vytenis Andriukaitis visited the country on 12-16 November. (AN)
