Brussels, 06/06/2014 (Agence Europe) - On 4 June, the association of European ethanol producers, ePure, announced the withdrawal of its complaint concerning the circumvention, via Norway, of anti-dumping duties on US ethanol - duties which were imposed in February 2013. ePure's announcement follows the European Commission's decision to apply anti-dumping duties to US ethanol regardless of the country through which it transits.
Since February 2013, the US has exported large quantities of ethanol to Norway. European imports of US ethanol have multiplied ten-fold in just one year, ePure stated in its complaint lodged at the European Commission in January. Alongside this, exports of ethanol from Norway to the EU have increased considerably - mainly in the form of fuel ethanol (E48), sold at price levels clearly lower than those of European ethanol fuel.
“The solution that has now been found puts an immediate end to these unfair trade practices and shields the EU industry from further injury”, ePure was pleased to state. (EH)
