Promoting European investment

Brussels 12/05/2014 (Agence Europe) - In Marseille on 26 May, a consortium of investment promotion bodies and Chambers of Commerce announced the launch of a programme aiming to develop private investments in the Mediterranean region. With a budget of five million euros, the programme “EuroMed Invest” is funded by the European Commission, the French region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, the City of Marseille and the consortium Med Alliance. Eurochambers and Businessmed (linked to Businesseurope) are also involved in the project.

According to its developers, “EuroMed Invest” will have five priority target sectors: agri-food, water and new energy, tourism, transport and logistics, cultural and creative industries. The idea is to create links between various economic stakeholders: investment promotion agencies, SME development agencies, chambers of commerce and industry, professional organisations, clusters, investors, public and private financiers and networks of diaspora and businesswomen in Europe and in the countries South of the Mediterranean. Emphasis will be laid on the role of SMEs to increase investment flows and business projects. (FB)
