Brussels, 09/05/2014 (Agence Europe) - In the framework of the revision process for the control regime on EU exports of dual use goods, ten years after the adoption of the Community strategy against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the European Commission presented a communication on 24 April aiming to map the direction for export controls of dual use goods.
The communication also identifies concrete policy options for the modernisation and adaptation of export controls to rapidly changing technological, economic and political circumstances. Before taking concrete initiatives for action, the European Commission invites the Council and the European Parliament to consider the approach set out in this communication. At the same time, the Commission will conduct an impact assessment of the review options proposed in order to identify the most suitable regulatory and non-regulatory actions to bring them into effect.
Export controls for dual use goods are governed by Regulation 428/2009. (EH)
