Brussels, 19/03/2014 (Agence Europe) - Despite some uncertainty and questions, the members of the regional development committee at the European Parliament (REGI) are not expected to raise any objections to the delegated acts in the package proposed by the European Commission. On 3 March, the Commission proposed the delegated acts that would complete the regulation on common provisions for the five structural funds, on spending eligibility for cooperation programmes and the principles for managing urban development programmes in the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER). On Wednesday 9 March, REGI debated this issue and, although some concerns were expressed, members appear to support swift adoption of the delegated acts to enable the operational programmes to be up and running by the end of the year. REGI chair, Danuta Hübner (EPP, Poland) is not expecting any motions to be submitted by the European Parliament against this package of acts. So far, no objection has been launched by MEPs to the acts, she said. MEPs have until 3 May to do so, two months after the Commission's presentation. The Council, too, appears to support this approach. If there are no objections from the institutions within the allotted time, the acts will be considered to have been adopted. (MD)
