Brussels, 23/01/2014 (Agence Europe) - On 23 January, the Commission sent a reasoned opinion to the German authorities in which it called on the country to amend its national rules on pyrotechnic articles (including fireworks) previously tested in another EU member state and bearing the “EC” mark. The Commission believes that these requirements are in addition to those contained in the 2007/23/EC directive on pyrotechnic articles on the market and constitute a barrier to the free movement of goods. Germany has two months in which to comply with its legal obligations, failing which it could be taken to the European Court of Justice. (EH/transl.fl)
