Brussels, 06/12/2013 (Agence Europe) - EU Transport Commissioner Siim Kallas was asked about a number of European delegations at the Transport Council on Thursday 5 December to clarify the cabotage rules with a view to creating a level playing field. On the fringes of the meeting, he was handed a letter from French Transport Minister Frédéric Cuvillier, backed by the transport ministers of Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland and Italy, who are concerned about social dumping through fraud and weak social legislation in this area. The Commission is unlikely to have time to address these issues under the current European Parliament, warned a close source. (MD/transl.fl)
