Brussels, 25/11/2013 (Agence Europe) - On 25 November, the European Commission published details of the members of a new high-ranking group of experts on the digital economy that was set up last month. It will be chaired by former Portuguese Finance Minister Vitor Gaspar and will include six experts, namely Pierre Collin, of the French Conseil d'État, Michael Devereux of Oxford University's Company Tax Centre, Jim Hagemann Snabe, Joint Chief Executive of SAP AG, Tea Varrak of the Mektory Innovation and Business Centre in Estonia, Mary Walsh, non-executive director and consultant in Ireland, and Björn Westberg of the Jönköping International Business School in Sweden. The group will be tasked with identifying improvements in taxation for the digital economy to help the Commission draw up legislation in this area. The first meeting of the group will take place on 12 December 2013. It will submit a report to the Commission in the first half of 2014. (OL/transl.fl)
