Brussels, 25/11/2013 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 November, the committee of high-level officials composed of representatives from the 43 member countries of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) is meeting in Barcelona to prepare its action programme for 2014 - a year which is being promoted as an “acceleration year” in going ahead with common projects, after the “implementation” year of 2013. Several projects are being studied and most are reaching the point of looking for funding. One of these projects is the “solar plan”, which will be discussed at the energy ministers meeting in Brussels on 11 December.
During their meeting in Barcelona at the start of this week, the high-level Euro-Mediterranean officials will review various subjects, including the way the institution itself works - particularly the limits of its secretariat general's mandate and the operational budget, which is estimated at €6.32 million for the coming year and is half covered by the EU.
