Brussels, 06/09/2013 (Agence Europe) - At the beginning of the week, Morocco and the EU delegation in Rabat announced the conclusion of a twinning support programme to enhance the organisational and technical capacity of the Moroccan national institute for fisheries research, the Institut National de Recherche Halieutique (INRH).
This programme, with a funding allocation of €250,000 for an eight-month period, was set up to “improve the performance of the maritime fishing sector in the field of coastal surveillance, aquaculture and water resource management” and ensure the implementation of “European and international standards” in these areas. The programme has also supported the INRH in the development of a quality management system, certification and the twinning project between the INRH and its French counterparts, charged by the Commission to conduct this operation.
The results have proved conclusive and helped improve the performance of the maritime fishing sector in the field of coastal surveillance, aquaculture and water resource management. The INRH has also received back up in the preparation of accreditation for its priority laboratories based on the ISO 17025 standard. (FB/transl.fl)
