Brussels, 06/09/2013 (Agence Europe) - On 2-3 September, European Commissioner for Regional Development, Johannes Hahn visited Scotland and enthusiastically pointed out the excellent use being made of structural funds, particularly those in the energy field.
The commissioner stated that “my visits to Shetland and Orkney have strengthened my impression that the use of EU investments are very future oriented”. He visited a marine energy centre and renewable energy projects on the islands and pointed out that “this is how remote parts of Europe can make the most of their assets”. The commissioner also visited Scotland's capital city, Edinburgh, where he met Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, members of the Scottish Parliament and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and small and medium-sized enterprises.
