31/05/2013 (Agence Europe) - Belgium and Estonia also called to order on renewables directive. On Thursday 30 May, the European Commission sent reasoned opinions to Belgium and Estonia for failure to notify the complete transposition into national law of Directive 2009/28/EC on the promotion and use of renewable energy - which was due to have been implemented by the member states by 5 December 2010 at the latest. Belgium and Estonia have two months to fall into line with their legal obligations - or risk being taken to the Court of Justice. These two reasoned opinions follow on from similar procedures initiated earlier against Austria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Poland, Slovenia, Latvia and the Netherlands.
