Brussels, 29/11/2011 (Agence Europe) - The secretariat general of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME) announced on 28 November that they had signed an agreement confirming their collaboration. They are both based in Barcelona.
The aim of their agreement is to step up private sector participation in the economic and social development of the Mediterranean region.
Their declared objective is to give rise to an environment that is auspicious for investment in the Mediterranean Basin, in order to serve as a base for sustainable economic growth. With the agreement, the UfM secretariat general and ASCAME plan to support initiatives and promote the creation of jobs, economic initiatives and social entrepreneurship, while targeting small and medium-sized companies in particular as they account for 90% of all businesses in the region.
