On Tuesday 29 November, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton condemned the “brutal murder” by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) of four of its long-time hostages in Colombia on 26 November. Ashton repeated her demand for an “immediate and unconditional liberation of all hostages” and called on the FARC to “lay down arms and join the political process of reform and modernisation of Colombia”. She reiterated the EU's support for Colombia to put an end to violence and bring about sustainable peace in the country. (CG/transl.fl)
