Brussels, 14/11/2011 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 10 November, EU Commissioner for Inter-Institutional Relations and Administration Maros Sefcovic stressed that Turkey's place is in the EU. Stressing that this country is dynamic, with a young population and a shared history with the EU, “we cannot be unaware of the role that Turkey (…) could play as a full member of the EU. Turkey's past and future belong to Europe (…). If we let this chance escape, both sides will lose out”, he explained at a conference in Vienna on the global role of the EU.
He added that “enlargement is one of the most successful policies of the EU”. (CG/transl.fl)
