27/04/2011 (Agence Europe) - Antonio Tajani wants Ministry for Europe. Vice-President of the European Commission Antonio Tajani has floated the idea that Italy should transform its Ministry on Community Policies into a “Ministry for Europe”. Tajani put forward the proposal on the sidelines of a press conference in Rome where he was presenting the Festival of Europe, Florence, from 6 to 10 May. The Ministry of Community Affairs in Italy has been vacant since November last since the minister, Stefano Ronca, resigned. Tajani, who is responsible for industry and entrepreneurship, takes the view that Brussels cannot be seen as a foreign capital, like Washington, Moscow or Beijing. “Brussels is another Italian capital and should be seen through internal policy eyes”, he said, as reported by press agencies in Rome.
