Brussels, 27/04/2011 (Agence Europe) - “The mission option for the CAP post-2013 - Will CAP reform ensure food sovereignty and preserve natural resources?” - such is the theme of the debate to be held on 3 May at the European Parliament. The conference is organised by the European Coordination Via Campesina and Marck Tarabella, MEP (S&D, Belgium).
The European Coordination Via Campesina is calling for a fourth option on CAP reform (see EUROPE 10304), in addition to the three options identified in the Commission communication (status quo; more balanced, targeted and lasting support; abolition of market and revenue support). This fourth option would be that of giving the EU real instruments for market regulation and control.
Speakers at the conference on 3 May include José Bové (Greens/EFA, France), Patrick Le Hyaric (GUE/NGL, France) and Janusz Wojciechowski (ECR, Poland). (L.C./transl.jl)
