On Wednesday 27 April, the European Commission granted clearance to the creation and acquisition of joint control of the business travel joint venture BCD Travel Viajes Iberia by Orizonia and BCD Travel Business Spain. Orizonia is a Spanish tour operator and wholesale supplier of charter flights and hotel accommodation services jointly controlled by Grupo Santander of Spain and the Carlyle Group of the USA. Through its subsidiary Viajes Iberia, it provides leisure and business travel agency services, mainly in Spain. BCD Travel Business Spain provides business travel agency services in Spain. It is part of the BCD Travel Group (Spain) which belongs to BCD Holdings (the Netherlands) and provides business travel agency services world-wide. The newly created joint venture BCD Travel Viajes Iberia will provide business travel agency services in Spain. The operation was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
