Luxembourg, 12/04/2011 (Agence Europe) - The draft directive on the sexual exploitation of children and child pornography was placed on the agenda of the justice ministers' meeting on Tuesday 12 April. An agreement could possibly be reached in June. This is at least the intention of the Hungarian Presidency of the EU. On Tuesday, EU member states held a debate that focused mainly on the blocking or the failure to block child pornography sites, explained Minister Tibor Navracsics. Member states are still divided into three groups. Some of them, like Germany, propose that the web pages be removed rather than blocking access to the sites. It considers that removing the sites would be more efficient. Other member states consider that they should first of all block these sites. A third group of countries, consisting of Luxembourg and France, proposes a mixed approach, which would leave the decision on how to solve this problem up to each member state. (S.P./transl.fl)
