Brussels, 25/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - The Commission decided on Tuesday 25 January to extend the mandate of the Joint Transfer Pricing Forum (JTPF) until March 2015. It also adopted a communication setting out guidelines for a number of technical issues related to transfer pricing taxation.
It is worth noting that the JTPF, which is made up of representatives of the national tax administrations and businesses, seeks pragmatic solutions to issues such as the double taxation of cross-border transactions between businesses of any single group or associated businesses, pending a formal proposal on a common consolidated corporate tax base (CCCTB), which Commissioner Šemeta plans to present this year (see EUROPE 10243).
Double taxation brings about steep charges for businesses and the Commission's proposal should make it possible to find a permanent solution at this level. In the meantime, the work of the JTPF is vital to provide companies with greater certainty and consistency as regards the tax on their cross-border operations.
