Brussels, 18/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament, which will simply be consulted on limited review of the Lisbon Treaty, as decided by the European Council in December 2010 with a view to creating a permanent crisis management mechanism in the eurozone, intends to present its opinion in early March. The opinion will be prepared by the constitutional affairs committee (AFCO), which has tasked Elmar Brok (EPP, Germany) and Roberto Gualtieri (S&D, Italy) with preparing a draft project for 31 January. European Council President Herman Van Rompuy will be heard by the constitutional affairs committee on 1 February, when he presents the proposal for review of the Treaty. The committee vote is scheduled to take place on 17 February. The plenary session will discuss and vote on the opinion during the plenary sitting from 7-10 March in Strasbourg. Limited Treaty review will be carried out according to simplified procedure under Article 48 of the Lisbon Treaty. (H.B./transl.jl)
