18/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - Call for nominations for IRU trophies 2011. On Tuesday 18 January, the International Road Transport Union (IRU) launched its call for nominations for its 2011 prizes for innovation, good practice, and excellence in coach tourism and use of buses. This year, the IRU will award three categories: - the City Trophy, which acknowledges and rewards municipal authorities that implement proactive policies favouring sustainable group tourism by coach; - the Bus Excellence Award, which promotes high quality and cost-effective innovative projects implemented by any public or private bus/coach company, allowing for a greater use of regular urban and interurban public transport by bus and coach; - the Coach Tourism Innovation Award, a brand new award, open to any private transport company worldwide, aiming to recognise and promote best industry practices leading to a greater use of group tourism by coach.
