18/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - European Federalists prepare their congress. The Bureau of the Union of European Federalists met in Brussels last week to prepare for their European Congress, scheduled for Brussels on 25-27 March. According to a press release, President Andrew Duff led a discussion of the continuing euro crisis, the reform of the European Parliament and the collapse of the momentum behind further enlargement. These three topics will form the core of the theme resolution for the Congress under the title Federal Union - Time to Decide. At the end of the Bureau meeting, Duff said: “The reaction of the European Council to the crisis has been late, short term and inadequate. What Europe needs is a blueprint towards proper economic government that will calm the financial markets and have democratic credibility”.
