21/12/2010 (Agence Europe) - EU to implement Nagoya results. The Environment Council on 20 December welcomed the “successful outcome” of the United Nations conference on biodiversity (COP10, held Nagoya at the end of October). Conclusions adopted by the environment ministers call on member states to review their national action plans and strategies in favour of biodiversity in order to adapt them to the strategic plan adopted in Nagoya for 2011-2020. The Commission and member states are invited to rapidly sign the Nagoya ABS Protocol (on access to genetic resources and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from their utilisation), and to prepare for its ratification.
