Brussels, 14/12/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 14 December, the General Affairs Council approved the trialogue (Council, European Parliament and Commission) agreement negotiated on 30 November on the implementing regulation for the European Citizens' Initiative (ECI). The European Parliament is expected to approve the text this Wednesday, 15 December by plenary session vote in Strasbourg. Thereafter, the regulation will be formally adopted by the Council, without debate, most probably before the end of the month. The regulation will come applicable 12 months after it comes into force in order to afford member states and the Commission sufficient time to put in place the administrative structures needed.
