14/12/2010 (Agence Europe) - Prague is to host premises of Galileo surveillance authority. On Friday 10 December, Industry Commissioner Antonio Tajani welcomed the fact that Prague had been chosen as the seat of the surveillance authority (GSA) for the European satellite radio-navigation system, Galileo (GNSS). “The GSA will play a key role for the Galileo initiative, being responsible for security accreditation and the operations for the GNSS security and monitoring centre”, Tajani said in a press release on Friday. He went on to add that the decision will be “another important step on the road to making Galileo Europe's state-of-the-art satellite initiative”. The decision, confirmed on Friday by member states, puts an end to the selection process at the GSA head office, placed on the agenda of June's Transport Council by the Czech Republic, which was in the running for the GSA location together with Germany (Munich) and the Netherlands (Noordwijk).
