Industrial production increases in October 2010

Brussels, 14/12/2010 (Agence Europe) - According to estimates published by Eurostat on Tuesday 14 December, seasonally adjusted industrial production in October 2010 rose by 0.7% in the euro area and by 0.3% in the EU27 compared to September 2010. In October 2010 compared with September 2010, production of capital goods grew by 1.8% in the euro area and by 0.9% in the EU27. Non-durable consumer goods rose by 0.4% and 0.3% respectively. Production of energy increased by 0.4% in the euro area, but fell by 0.2% in the EU27. Intermediate goods gained 0.2% in both zones. Durable consumer goods decreased by 0.1% in the euro area and remained stable in the EU27.

At an annual rate (October 2010/October 2009), industrial production increased by 6.9% in the eurozone and by 6.7% in the EU. The production of capital goods grew by 12.1% in the euro area and by 11.5% in the EU27. Intermediate goods increased by 7.3% and 8.0% respectively. Non-durable consumer goods rose by 3.6% in the euro area and by 3.9% in the EU27. Durable consumer goods gained 1.9% and 2.7% respectively. Production of energy grew by 0.3% in the euro area, but fell by 0.4% in the EU27. (O.L./transl.jl)
