Brussels, 04/11/2010 (Agence Europe) - The president of the European Commission, José Manuel Durão Barroso, congratulated the Latvian prime minister, Valdis Dombrovskis, on his re-appointment as head of government. In a message to Dombrovskis, Barroso underlines the progress made by Latvia under the economic stabilisation programme and states that he and his services are looking forward to working with the Latvia government “towards successfully completing the economic stabilisation programme and laying groundwork for Latvia's accession to the euro area”. A message of congratulations was also addressed to Valdis Dombrovskis by the chairman of the EPP Group at the European Parliament, Joseph Daul. In the centre-right government that the Saeima, the Latvian parliament, has just confirmed, key posts are held by two parties related to the EPP, the Jaunais Laiks (New Era) and Pilsoniskâ Savienîba (Civic Union).
