Brussels, 08/10/2010 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission announced on Friday 8 October that eight names of agricultural and food products had been added to the list of protected designations of origin (PDO) and protected geographical indications (PGI). They are Greek broad bean “ÖÜâá Óáíôïñßíçò (Fava Santorinis) (PDO), Italian potato “Patata della Sila” (PGI), Spanish olive oil “Estepa” (PDO), Polish prunes “Suska schloñska” (PGI), Slovenian meat “Prleške tünka” (PGI), French beans “Mogette de Vendée” (PGI), German sausage “Halberstädter Würstchen” (PGI) and German asparagus “Schrobenhausener Spargel”/“Spargel aus dem Schrobenhausener Land”/“Spargel aus dem Angaugebiet Schrobenhausen” (PGI). The eight names have been added to the list of around 950 products already covered by legislation on protection of geographical indications, designations of origin and traditional specialities.
