26/07/2010 (Agence Europe) - Two out of every three Norwegians are opposed to their country joining the European Union, according to a public survey published on Monday 26 July. This hostility is shared by supporters of all political parties, including the most traditionally Europhile ones. According to this survey, which was published by the public television channel NRK, 66.9% of Norwegians are opposed to joining, 24.6% are in favour and 9.1% are undecided. Norway has twice voted against accession to the EU, in referendums in 1972 and 1994. The current government has ruled out any further debates on the subject until the end of the current term in office, which runs until 2013. (L.C./transl.fl)
