26/07/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 26 July 2010, the Council of Ministers of the EU adopted without debate, its position on the draft amending budget (DAB No. 2), to the general budget for 2010. This draft budget amends the establishment plan of the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) Office, in order to enable the Commission to hire the necessary staff following the adoption of the legal basis for the setting up of this body. The proposed modifications do not require any additional financial provisions. The Council has still not taken a position on the second element in this draft budget, namely additional human and financial resources requested by the European Economic and Social Committee under Committee for the Regions for a total amount of €10,530,924 in commitment and payment appropriations to take into account new treaty provisions.
