Commission authorises compensation for French oyster farmers after Xynthia storm

Brussels, 22/04/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 22 April, European Commissioner Maria Damanaki signed a decision approving the state aid which France wants to pay to fish and shellfish farmers in those parts of the country which were hit by the storm Xynthia at the end of February. The aid, an “exceptional support plan” worth €20 million for fish and shellfish farmers in Vendée and Charente-Maritime, consists of three measures: aid to replace material (to help get enterprises...
