Commission and EIB support launch of prototype satellite Alphasat

Brussels, 22/04/2010 (Agence Europe) - With backing of €225 million from the EU's Risk-sharing Finance Facility (RSFF), jointly created by the European Commission and European Investment Bank, Europe will, in 2012, launch an innovative telecoms satellite. The Alphasat mission is a joint undertaking of the European Space Agency (ESA) and Inmarsat Plc, a UK-based satellite communications company.
