Budgetary control committee sweeps aside rapporteur Bart Staes's criticisms about implementation of EP budget

Brussels, 23/03/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 23 March, the European Parliament's budgetary control committee recommended giving discharge to the president of the EP for implementation of the EP's 2008 budget but raised the ire of rapporteur Bart Staes (Greens/EFA, Belgium), who says that the two biggest political parties, the EPP and the S&D, had “killed his brainchild”. No fewer than 30 paragraphs of his initial report were replaced by amendments tabled by Germany's Ingeborg...
